About
the Show
The Mind & Muscle Fitness Hour began as an unexpected conflict.
Phil Kaplan, at the time working to become one of the most respected
Personal Fitness Trainers in the world, heard a nutritionist giving
flawed advice on the radio. He tried calling in to ask a question and
came to realize the show was scripted. A chain of events led him to
become a transformational force for the owner of the radio station,
WWNN, and before long the Mind & Muscle Fitness Hour became a staple
and developed a cult following among fitness buffs.

Over the
15 years that followed, Mind & Muscle moved to WIOD, a revered AM
News / Talk station with a powerful reach out of Miami, and Phil found
a home there. His interviews were explosive, controversial, but all
grounded in "Fitness Truth." He addressed sensitive subjects,
challenged the FDA, the pharmaceutical companies, and the marketers
of fitness gimmickry. In 2003 the show became syndicated and in 2006,
with a nationwide audience, Phil took a brief hiatus to spend time with
his then-three-year-old daughter. The emails and phone calls poured
in, and in 2007, Phil resumed his broadcasts, moving to Fort Lauderdale's
WFTL, 850 AM. He broadcasts live out of Fitness 21, "a health club
for the 21st century" in Weston Florida.
Phil is often joined on The Mind & Muscle Fitness Hour by women’s
fitness specialist Adriana Martin and personal trainer / boxing champion
Ervin Steele.

CLASSIC
SHOW
The Experts Roundtable
Sound quality
is poor, but it's worth the listen. This was a show from the early 1990's
with three renowned experts, Dr. Michael Colgan, biochemist Anthony
Almada, and Bodybuilding Guru John Parrillo. Phil leads a friendly yet
at times heated debate on the virtues of some of the more common nutritional
approaches. The show, although it's over a decade past, is timeless
and virtually everything discussed holds true today. Listen.
